SEEKING THE ROUGH EDGE, UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH, THE ULTIMATE CRINGE

Bailey creates work as a documenter, collector, and curator of information. Her work is an amalgamation of gathered content and experiences to reflect the feminine panopticon. Built on foundations of surveillance, suggestion, and performance, Bailey is reaching for the answer: if masculine violence is punching a hole in the wall, what is feminine violence? She approaches her painting informed by the generational practice of motherhood in her family, subjugated, methodical, and controlled. Her work also leans into the layering of allegories reliant on the temporal properties of video, to peel back the answer that you must erect. She picks at the expectation of a soft, caring existence for women, to reveal an angry, spiteful truth, to expose the inherently feminine experience of cringe. ​ Bailey is currently working on her MFA at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
